No, the mobile phone needs to be switched on for LocateMy Phone to provide its location.
- What if the mobile phone user doesn't agree to being located with LocateMy Phone?
Most employees and mobile phone users are happy to be registered with LocateMy Phone once they understand
that they are in full control of their privacy:

The phone user can switch the phone OFF and not be located.

At any time the phone user can withdraw permission to be located.
- Does the mobile phone user need to agree every time I locate their mobile?
No, the mobile phone user only agrees initially to be located. After that you can locate as
you wish without the phone user having to approve every time.
- Which mobile phones can I locate?
You may locate any mobile phones or GSM devices involved in your day-to-day business activities.
- My kids have a mobile on my account. Can I locate them?
Not at this stage. It is currently illegal to use this technology for the location of any non-business mobile phones, including those in your children’s possession.
- How accurate is the service?
Location accuracy depends on the whereabouts of the mobile phone.
Listed below is the expected accuracy of LocateMy Phone’s services.
- Locating phones in CBD: within 200 metres
- Locating phones in metropolitan suburbs: within 600 metres
- Locating phones in country areas: within about 1.2 km
- Can the mobile phone user withdraw permission to locate them?
For security reasons, the phone user is able to withdraw their permission to be located.
This is in line with industry guidelines, our privacy policy and government requirements.
- On which networks is the service available?
You can locate any of your business mobile phones on Telstra’s mobile network.
The service doesn’t operate on Telstra Mobilenet's CDMA network.
LocateMy Phone plans to add additional mobile networks in the near future.
- Am I charged if the location request is unsuccessful?
No, we will not charge you for unsuccessful location attempts.
